eServices Infrastructure for Collaborative Science
A NC Base Program Project
The eServices Infrastructure for Collaborative Science project will help develop a unifying architecture for computational Grids. The project is based on, and contributes to the development of the Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA), but its emphasis is on addressing the needs of the scientific computing community.
The goal of this collaboratory middleware project is to develop a unifying standards-based framework for Grid Services.
The objectives of this project are to
- Develop bindings to OGSA for languages important to the scientific community such as C/C++ and Python
- Investigate performance aspects of OGSA: fast communication protocols, efficient data encodings, as well as overall performance issues
- Develop higher level services of importance to the scientific community
- Develop application related services and infrastructure: application servers and methods for efficient application composition
This project is a collaboration among Argonne National Laboratory and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
